Family Fun at Story Hour!

This month's Story Hour at the downtown Redwood City Public Library was a great success. Close to 70 children, adults and families were in attendance to celebrate the spring season and Cinco de Mayo.

Cotton Candy Express, beloved children's musicians, performed. Children took part in the performance by singing, dancing and getting up in front of the crowd. Ten volunteers from local businesses and volunteer organizations, including HOBA, Volunteer Match and our local Starbucks, were on hand to help children with their craft projects. Our Family Book for the evening was the classic "Guess How Much I love You," and each family was able to take a new copy home with them to build their home libraries.

Additionally, students created crafts based around the theme of the book. All students were also able to self select books of their choice to take home. Community partner, Second Harvest Food Bank, provided healthy snacks to the families. Families were also given bags of fresh cut vegetables to encourage healthy eating habits at home.

Families, staff and volunteers all enjoyed this fun and entertaining evening. Come join in the fun next month!
