Story Hour Fun!

Families and friends enjoyed another fun-filled evening at our first Story Hour of 2017. Stormy weather couldn't dampen the excitement for our learners. The Marine Science Institute gave a hands-on presentation to the children about ocean creatures, allowing them to touch and feel various under water organisms, including starfish, hermit crabs, snails and fish.

Each family was presented with a family book, and all students were encouraged to select their own books from a varied selection to build upon their home libraries.

After the marine presentation, children worked alongside parents and volunteers to decorate calendars, build 3D structures out of toothpicks and create snowflakes out of coffee filters. Hands on Bay Area (HOBA) and volunteers from volunteermatch.com were all available to help our students with crafts.

Our crafts were created using household materials to be duplicated at home.
