FFL February Book Club

Our Families For Literacy (FFL) February Book Club was held last week. This monthly program focuses on early intervention, working with families with young children to work on pre-literacy skills and exposure to reading.

Staff members and volunteers work together with parents and their children modeling literacy skills and immersing the family in fun and creative enrichment activities.

This month, we read Oh, A-Hunting We Will Go, by John Langstaff, focusing on the reading and comprehension strategies of prediction and rhyming. Students got creative with a craft activity, where they each created their own foil collage-- a fun project that can be recreated at home. Kids, parents and staff also learned a favorite children's song, Down By the Bay by Raffi.

If you are interested in learning more about the program, stop by to talk to a staff member or email us.

“There are many little ways to enlarge your child's world. Love of books is the best of all.” - Jacqueline Kennedy
