Project READ is partnering with an amazing organization, Charlie Cart, that's mission is to bring nutritional education to children through food and cooking. Charlie Cart is a mobile cooking class for kids, providing the tools and resources needed to bring cooking into an educational setting. This is takes hands-on learning to a new level by engaging so many of our senses.
Project READ staff members recently joined other Redwood City Library staff in a Charlie
Cart training day to be able to learn best practices in facilitating this program. Staff members learned how to best integrate recipes into a learning environment, reviewed safety measures, familiarized themselves with the kitchen tools, and of course, did some cooking.
Charlie Cart can easily be integrated into our youth, adult and family programming where we focus on health literacy and nutrition. Look for more Charlie Cart posts to come!
