Project READ families were in for a treat at this month's Family Story Hour. Wild Things, Inc, a nonprofit dedicated to displaced animals and conservation education, came to introduce some of the animals they care for, while teaching us how to respect our environment and the animals in it. Some of the rescue animals included a lemur, an owl, an alligator, snapping turtle and a very large lizard. Students and parents were able to interact with the animals, a highlight of the evening!
Over 120 learners, family members and friends attended the event. Volunteers from Hands On Bay Area and Volunteer Match were also on hand to help out with crafts. Thirty two bags of fresh vegetables from Second Harvest Food Bank were given out to families to encourage healthy eating habits. Each family was given Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham to continue to build their home libraries. Students created crafts related to the theme of the book.
