Family Weekend Workshop Celebrates Winter with Snow

Last weekend, Family Learning Adventures (FLA) met again for a weekend creativity workshop where families discover, explore and create together. Junior League volunteer tutors helped families, which included 30 youth and 10 adults, navigate experiments, fort building and some tinkering along with a myriad of other winter-themed and STEAM-based activities.

These weekend workshops, focused around STEAM curriculum and literacy concepts, allow families to learn together. Some of the wintery activities this month included a sensory station where families engaged in DIY sensory snow play and exploration, ice excavation in search of frozen treasures and even some frozen treats at our smoothie station. Participants were able to create with arts & craft supplies and materials in our TinkerLab or collaborate on some fort building. No matter the activity, there was lots of fun!
