SAFE Program Celebrates A Year of Success!

The SAFE program, a collaboration with Sequoia High School, pairs together at-risk high school students and struggling elementary students in a dual immersion tutoring program that increases reading skills, while building student confidence. This year, 14 learners and 17 teen tutors completed the 19-week program. The program was such a success that all of the tutors said they were interested in participating again in the fall.

This year we incorporated more cooking and STEAM inspired projects, which included toothpick marshmallow structures, invention kits, making slime, Lego challenges, marble runs and zoo tubes.

SAFE allows students to learn and grow together, improving upon both learners' and students' skills, while building community.
