STEAM & STORIES Family Story Hour

Last week's monthly Family Story Hour brought together over 75 children and families in a night of literacy and discovery. This month we focused our Story Hour around Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math (STEAM) learning, which included tinkering, art, music and more. A night of true creativity that our families could dive into together.

Each family went home with self-selected books to build their home libraries, as well as our family book, "Animal Boogie." To go along with the theme of the book and evening, children's performers Lori & RJ from the Cotten Candy Express performed classic and original songs that families could dance and sing along to. This interactive performance had everyone out of their seats.

Students and families created cardboard tube crafts in our TinkerLab station, as well as taking part in painting and Kinetic Sand. Children and parents built large scale designs with our Rigamajig and used their engineering minds with Snap Circuits.

Community volunteers, including HOBA volunteers were on hand to help out. Thank you all for taking part in such a successful family event!
