Project READ's Literacy Bag Live: Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes

To celebrate the start of the new school year, we are reading, Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes written by Eric Litwin and illustrated by James Dean. We are also using paper, rubber bands and some coloring supplies to create our own mini journal. Enjoy!

Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes

Paper Straw & Rubber Band Journal

Craft Materials & Directions

• 1 sheet of colored paper

• 2-3 sheets of white paper

• hole puncher

• rubber band

• paper straw

• markers, crayons or colored pencils

Directions:

1. Place the white paper on top of the colorful paper.

2. Fold the paper in half.

3. Punch two holes along the folded edge of the paper.

4. Push one end of the rubber band up through the hole, leaving a loop at the top of the hole. Do the same with the other end of the rubber band.

5. Run the straw through the loops.
